Hi, I'm
Eva Illescas.
A passionated designer creating meaningful experiences for people from Spain, Dublin, Seattle and California. I have over 12 years of experience working on projects for big corporations and startups, among others.
You can find me working on side-projects with talented people, getting my hands dirty by doing DYI projects at home with my power tools, or cooking pancakes on Saturdays as our family's tradition (they are the best, seriously!).
A strategist designer and natural team player able to lead projects from ideation to post-launch iterations.
Back in 2020 I saw a post on my LinkedIn feed that caught my attention and inspired me to reach out. I knew my expertise and entrepreneurship experience would be a key role to create at a scale solution to mitigate Climate Change.
That's when I joined Eugene and Cassandra to found Work on Climate, a non-profit aiming to make climate work mainstream.
I am currently part of the Board at Work on Climate leading the vision of the organization. I do hands-on work and lead efforts when needed to improve our members' experience.
Previously, I worked as Lead Product Designer at Inspire Clean Energy for over 2 years. It was very fortunate to work for a company on the Climate industry.
I collaborated with incredible people, led efforts to improve retention and design solutions to enrich the core experiences for our customers and internal teams. I worked on projects that spanned from innovation to launched products.
Additionally, I conducted Research, lean into documentation, facilitated workshops, improved team processes and implemented and helped adopt new tools that helped increase team's productivity.
At Abstract, I was able to enrich the product to make it Enterprise ready. In order to achieve that I conducted Research with organizations like Spotify and Porsche, among others.
I designed and led efforts to protect projects on large organizations from people making unintentional changes. After research, we discover that was a necessity in order to deploy the tool internally at scale. I designed other features to manage teams, improve review processes and expand the Design System.
While I was working full-time at Microsoft, I decided to cofound a Travel Startup. Mochilo was a centralized and localized web experience able to create cheap trip packages around Europe. Within a click on WhatsApp, the site created a package that included plane tickets from the airport you were located and accommodations to a city in Europe for less than €120 per entire trip.
I was the Chief Creative Officer and designed all experiences including the look and feel of marketing, media, and branding associated with the organization. I created bot experiences on different platforms, tested different designs of the landing experience and created different marketing campaigns on social media.
Back in 2013, I joined Microsoft Corporation as User Experience Designer. I worked at Microsoft Advertising creating interactive and immersive Ads experiences.
A couple of years later I joined Bing Studios, part of the Artificial Intelligent and Research Organization (AI + R). I had the opportunity to work on projects where Bing intelligence and algorithms were integrated into products such as Cortana, Windows, Skype, Office among others. As well as designed the experiences across platforms and different touchpoints.
I helped define projects from ideation to products launched globally across different markets. I collaborated with stakeholders on a daily basis and led design efforts with different organizations around the globe, asyncronously and in person.
I led multiple Design Sprints and workshops to align and create holistic user-centered experiences for customers across different products. As part of my product development process, I loved getting insights from testing to measure performance, metrics and success.
Some of those projects reached millions of users, and others were conceptual designs to move innovation forward. Other activities I participated on actively were Research sessions, Design Innovation projects and Hackathons.
Right after I finished Graphic Design, I joined PlainConcepts as a UX/UI Designer. PlainConcept is a Microsoft's Gold Partner and I had the opportunity to work on different projects for different platforms and devices.
I collaborated on B2B and B2C projects with other designers from the Studio. I was responsible for projects that needed to pass different certifications, NDAs and clients' requirements. The communicated with clients, like El Real Madrid, El Corte Ingles, El Pais, among others to review the designs and direction.
